Sidebar on Cambodia
The people are very friendly and always want to be helpful. Young kids wave to you wherever you go.They are an attractive race and full of smiles even in dire conditions. And they love their kids ❤️ Almost everyone has a scooter as they are affordable. And nearly everyone wears a cloth face mask. We assume it is for the dust and fumes ??
Everyone has a cell phone. With the exception of Iphone which is expensive, the phones are cheap and the plans unbelievably cheap. You can get 19 GB for $5 a month. So when folks are sitting at the markets etc. waiting for a sale they are watching movies or checking messages.
Laundry cost $1 for a kg. Cheap...and a great service which includes folding. We learned after the fact that you can pay an extra $1 to have colours and whites separated. Our whites came back a little gray....lol
Accommodation can be very inexpensive to very expensive. We went low-middle of the road with some comforts. Our room in Siem Reap was palatial and the most expensive at $55 Cdn all in ... King bed and stone shower..not shown..lol
And it came with a pool
Every hotel we stayed in had outstanding breakfasts included !!!
Some of the people are ingenious and make garbage cans out of tires.
But sadly very few people use them. Most of the garbage goes on the ground. And also sadly, there is so much plastic and they do not recycle. We were usually depositing up to 10 cans or bottles daily into the garbage because of the heat. And that was just us 😕
Vendors on the side of the road sell gasoline to tuk tuk and scooter drivers.
They have amazing red dragonflies
Their writing is intricate, complicated and beautiful
Angkor Wat is surrounded by a 190m-wide moat, which forms a perfect giant man-made rectangle measuring 1.5km by 1.3km. Amazing for the 11th century !!
